Design for Appellation St. Helena
Appellation St. Helena is the organization of wineries and growers in the St. Helena American Viticultural Area (AVA). Their mission is to support the marketing efforts of their members by promoting the Appellation as a source of superior wine.
The goal was to create a site that would allow each of their target audiences—public, trade, media, members and potential members—to easily find the information they need.
A key component of the site was in interactive map, showing the location of each member winery and allowing visitors to get additional information via pop-up information boxes and to get driving directions.
Other custom components of the site include an events calendar and a members-only area accessible only via login.
Because the information on the site needs to be updated frequently, we determined that a Content Management System (CMS) would be appropriate, as it would allow the organization's staff to perform the updates themselves. Because of the hosting arrangements for the organization's site, this CMS had to be custom-developed.
